Craftsmen Canyon Vistas

"A Dream in Progress"

THE FIREPLACE

oronado residents, Mark & Martine, had always dreamed of a dramatic fireplace—one that exuded the elegance and sophistication on an English Tudor manor. Their old fireplace was nothing more than a rectangular box in the wall with a typical glass enclosure. It didn’t exude the grandeur that the couple had envisioned for their home.

The homeowners then approached James of Ziggurat Design to help bring their vision to life. Together, they crafted a wood-paneled mantelpiece, created by “Master Woodworker,” Del Cover. The impressive Alder fireplace is adorned with a depiction of the Coronado coronet, surrounded by Acanthus filigree, all exquisitely carved in limestone.

Now, Mark and Martine’s new fireplace provides a stunning focal point to their living room and has exceeded their every expectation!

This Ziggurat Design PROJECT SPOTLIGHT features the first of many phases to this Coronado English Tudor transformation. Check back as we reveal future redesigns and details on this homeowners’ exciting “dream in progress.”

THE ORIEL

ypically seen above the ground floor of a Tudor building, this window seat within a box bay window mimics the feel of a charming second-story Oriel. This cozy nook features beautiful leaded-glass diamond-paned windows and a rich gothic window frame, hand-crafted by “Master Woodworker,” Del Cover.

Tucked in the corner of the homeowner’s Great Room, the Oriel is the perfect spot to sit in the sun, relax and read. James even curated the richly colored embroidered fabrics for the seat cushion, throw pillows, bolsters, and drapes to pull the authentic Jacobean look together and bring sense of history to this Tudor Revival “dream in progress!”
